Moira Sauer

Moira began her work in theatre while at McGill University in Montreal. Having spent years studying classical theatre, she enjoyed the transition of bringing it to life on the stage, particularly with Russian director Sasha Marine. She spent two seasons touring Shakespeare with Repercussion Theatre, and one season with The Montreal Young Company, working with directors Bill Glassco and Chris Abraham.
Moira worked over the next few years with Superior Concept Monsters, the official puppeteers of the New York City Halloween Parade. She has since spent a season with SCM in Morinesio, Italy, preparing for the summer solstice celebration. She does her best to return to NY each Autumn to continue her puppet work.
Moira took the Canadian National Voice Intensive in 2004. She has studied with David Smuckler, Gary Logan, Ian Raffel, Neil Freeman, Steven Lecky, Barry Karp, Judith Koltai, and Gerry Trentham among others. She has also worked extensively in puppetry with Eric Bass and Ines Zeller of Sandglass Theatre, in addition to puppetry with Alex Kahn and Sophia Michahelles.
Moira wrote the Award-Winning script Dirty Life: A Small Exploration With Puppets which she and Celia McBride performed as a Sour Brides Production in Nakai Theatre’s Homegrown Festival 2006. She was also commissioned to write the first-ever All-Yukon Musical for Leaping Feats Dance Company, working alongside musician Kim Barlow and choreographers Lisa Stevens and Andrea Simpson-Fowler. Sisters Aurora had its debut on the Yukon Arts Centre Stage summer of 2006 and will continue to grow over the next year.
Now a full-time Yukon resident, Moira entertains Monday to Friday for the Drive At Five as Sweet Moira Sauer, radio DJ for CKRW The Rush 96.1FM.
